Guide to Integrating Media

The images, video, webcams, and virtual tours displayed on your Travel and Vacation Network listing can be displayed on your own website. You may wish to get the assistance of your web designer to implement the following.

  • Step 1:Navigate to your Travel and Vacation Network listing with which you are working (i.e. on the Branson or Italy travel portal for example).
  • Step 2:Copy the URL for your listing from the address bar of your browser (select it, and choose COPY from the edit menu).
  • Step 3:Save this URL for later by pasting it into a new text document, or directly into your HTML editing program and save for later. You will need to modify this before you publish your changes.

Choose your Technique

Now that you've saved your URL for later use, you'll need to choose how you want it to appear on your website. There are many ways that this can be done, just some of which we have mentioned here. Depending on your level of knowledge with web design, you may choose to use one of our suggestions or a more advanced technique altogether. Our suggestions include:

  • Option 1:Simple HTML link
  • Option 2:Simple HTML link with 'target' attribute set to "_blank"
  • Option 3:Use an in-line frame, or <iframe> (recommend frameborder="0" attribute)
  • Option 4:Generate javascript popup, and load URL in the window

The format of a simple HTML link with target attribute is as follows: When clicked, this will open your media gallery into a new browser window on you visitor's computer. You can remove target="_blank" to prevent the page from opening up in a new window.

For Option 3 and 4, more advanced knowledge of HTML is required. An I-Frame, for example, requires a good understanding of what elements surround the area where you wish the media gallery to appear. Here is an example of iframe tag: With a little Javascript knowledge, you can create a small window that appears of your page, and display the media gallery in this window. For either of these two options, it is important to know that the size of the rendered media area will be no larger than 600px by 400px. If format changes occur, or if new technology offerings for media integration change, TVNETCO will notify you of your options.

Changing Your URL

The last step is to add the extra text to the end of the URL you saved. For the full media gallery, you want to add /media/ to the end of your URL.

If you are integrating a webcam, simply add /webcam/.
