TVNETCO Team Travel Stories
How big is your zip code?
by Ray Rapalo
Travelling the world has probably been my greatest ambition in life. The world is so much smaller than I believed as a child. I remember a time when I thought my zip code was my entire universe and to travel beyond it was an unthinkable act…
I have witnessed sunsets and sunrises on almost every continent on this wonderful planet we call earth and because of this I’ve learned something that is as true as true can be. People everywhere all have the same appreciation of these majestic moments! No matter what piece of land you are currently standing on I think if you have travelled and interacted with the locals of different communities you would agree with my sentiment.
The other thing I’ve found to hold true throughout the lands is to see new things and experience different cultures is profoundly memorable. This can be done from a solitary perspective or if you share my way of looking at things, these moments are that much more beautiful while sharing them with others that you care about. I’ve always been lucky in my travels as my wife and I work in the same field and on the same team therefore we are able to do all of our travelling together. I cherish the moments we are able to share and would encourage anyone who wants to broaden their horizons and strengthen their marital bound to travel together as much as possible! The perspective of each person will probably be a bit different to say the least and you’ll actually be able to experience the same thing twice because your partner will explain their experience as they saw it and vice versa.
I meet people all the time who tell me how much they would love to travel but their life or the people in it are holding them back. My response to this is usually the same… You owe it to yourself to live your dreams! If you need something other than what is currently available to you in your zip code then just simply go! Make the necessary arrangements, do your best to convince anyone you want to come with you to come, slap on a smile full of adventurous wonderment, and GO! Not many things in life are perfect so don’t expect too much but definitely go in with an open mind and absorb the experience like a sponge!
What is it that intrigues you? The Pyrenees mountains in Catalonia, Volcano national park in Hawaii, the Vatican in Rome, beaches in Australia, skiing in the Alps, sushi in Japan, or just a place to escape to where no one will know your name? The point is, whatever calls to your inner wanderlust is out there and waiting for you to arrive. I promise you’ll find it if you just go and look.
So stop reading this and open up a web browser. Go to www.tvnetco.com , pick a destination, watch some videos, look at some pictures or virtual tours, read some reviews and write-ups, use a live interactive webcam or two, and book something! You’ll thank me for it later! Enjoy your travels!!!
